Forest Science and Technology Centre of Catalonia (Coordinator)
The mission of the Centre de Ciència i Tecnologia Forestal de Catalunya (CTFC) is to help modernise and improve the competitiveness of the forestry industry, as well as rural development and the sustainable management of the environment through research, training and the transfer of technology and knowledge to society. Within this mission, its work is aimed at resolving problems related to ecosystem management and the interaction of natural resources with society in order to improve the wealth and well-being of people and the sustainability of the natural environment in the face of global change. This approach focuses on returning the results of its work to society. The activities carried out by the Centre are divided into three programmes: Landscape dynamics and biodiversity, Multifunctional forestry management and Governance and bioeconomics of the rural environment, with their respective lines of research, training and transfer.
Centre de la Propietat Forestal
The Forest Ownership Center (CPF) was created in 1988. It is a public autonomous body with all powers onprivate forests holding a forest management plan. The main objective of the CPF is to promote sustainable forest management of private forests. This objective includes promoting, approving and monitoring forest management plans, processing EU funds to forests and promoting knowledge transfer amongst forest owners and professionals. Within the process of approving Forest Management Plans (FMP) for private owners, the CPF is in close contact with the Catalan nature conservation administration, which informs and reports on the potential impact of the forestry treatments planned in the FMP on protected species and habitats in Natura 2000 sites.
Centre de Recerca Ecològica i Aplicacions Forestals
CREAF is a public research center dedicated to terrestrial ecology, territorial analysis and global change, pursuing excellence in the production and dissemination of knowledge, in addition to the innovation, development, and transfer of methodologies.
Energies Tèrmiques Bàsiques SL
ENERG-bas was born in 2009 with the aim to design and sell thermochemical plants to valorise all kind offorest biomass, as well as agricultural and industrial wastes. The modular and mobile plant plant has been revamped three times since then and currently it has a capacity up to 100 kg/h of biomass. It operates continuously and can work at a temperature range from 25 to 600ºC. The plant (European patent 15380001.6) has more than 8.000 running hours and it has obtained important added-valued solids, liquids
or gases products. ENERG-bas own two European patents relating to the technology of the biorefinery.
Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona
The Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) ranks 147 in this year’s edition of the Times HigherEducation World University Rankings. It also has 36.1 points in research and 42.1 points in industrial income. Its research impact (citations per paper) is 89.5 points. UAB occupies position number 102 worldwide (nine points above its place last year).

The Diputació de Barcelona is a local government institution that promotes the progress and well-being of the citizens of its territorial area: the province of Barcelona, 311 municipalities in a network, which represents 24% of the total area of Catalonia and 74 , 4% of the total Catalan population (more than five and a half million people). It acts directly by providing services and, above all, in cooperation with the town councils.
